Museum Courtyard Herreriano. Presentation Covers Atticus Cuatro

 

Museum Courtyard Herreriano, on January 15, 2014. It is 20, 8 o'clock of the evening of a gray day that occurred during a cold but splendid night with a radiant full moon (one day was missing scarcely to be an entire flood). Like that it is as the room was to the beginning of the act of the presentation of the number Four of Magazine Atticus, flood, to overflow. With exquisite punctuality the people occupied its armchairs. The capacity could have doubled. They remained the standing people and others a lot of sound could gain access to the interior of the room.

Cristina Fontaneda, director of the Museum Courtyard Herreriano; Gustavo Martín Garzo, writer, and Luis José Cuadrado Gutiérrez, publisher of Magazine Atticus, were presiding at the table.

Fontaneda thanked all the assistants and congratulated itself of the big reception of this initiative, like the one that took place the previous day with the presentation of VI days of movies. «It seems that the culture is of interest». Martín Garzo praised the merit that has to extract forward a publication in printed edition, the quality of the works, of the elegant edition and of the aptitude to extract forward this costly edition, in a few times in which the culture seems to be devaluated. It unraveled the reason of the name Atticus and livened up its performance with some personal anecdote (earlier «when two anarchists were joining, they were editing a newspaper»). But today it was the day of Magazine Atticus, today it was the day of the presentation of the number Four and today it was the day of our publisher, Luisjo Cuadrado.

Square Luisjo began the act thanking so much Cristina Fontaneda for lodging the presentation for third time (last year we emigrate to another museum I join, the National museum of Sculpture for dedicating an extensive dossier), as well as to the proper Foundation Museum Courtyard Herreriano for transferring this space. Also he was grateful for the presence of Gustavo Martín Garzo: "like reader, like writer's beginner and now like publisher I cannot hide the enormous satisfaction that I feel on having been along with one of the big ones of the current literary panorama». Its intervention was divided in three parts: the proper presentation of the number Four in printed edition, the present and the future of Magazine Atticus.

The number Four. Our publisher emphasized five years of life that it is going to fulfill the publication. It defined Magazine Atticus «as a cultural factory. Understanding as such an organization that receives a series of raw material and transforms them into a product for the consumption. This raw material is not different that the different works that our collaborators order us. This factory possesses at present more than 70 offices that are not another thing than every room or lounge where they take root and where from any more than 70 collaborators order us its works distributed all over the world».

It enumerated some of the articles realized on the part of the collaborators, like also these other works executed to two hands, on the one hand the texts, and for other the images: photos or illustrations. Between the first ones happy Vargas girls of Gonzalo Durán; Kiki de Montparnase of Violeta Izquierdo; Tempus fugit and mythology in the work of two sculptors of Zamora of Inés Gutiérrez-Carbajal; or Music on table of Inés Mogollón. And between the second ones: Rugby portraits with photos of one of the habitual photographers Chuchi Guerra, with text of «The white hairs»; the photos of García de Marina for Esther Bengoechea; the trip for Valladolid with photos of Carlos de Francisco and the text (to Feel and to write Valladolid) of Javier Burrieza. It stopped in a special way in the symbiosis artistic of the binomial Gustavo Martín Garzo with its history Returned to the paradise that Marco Temprano illustrated, showing to all the assistants the engraved original frame and that will happen to increase the graphic funds of Magazine Atticus.

Square Luisjo emphasized that the work of two you should collaborate for different reasons. The first one of them is the work of Laura Antolín (Echoes. An approach to the work of Pedro Barrocal). «Laura Antolin did its thesis on the contemporary painters of Palencia. A dishonest work that has not found financing for its publication. He even went so far as to contact with us to see if we could throw a hand. In the end, the only one, the little that we can do is to give gone out for part of this work that it has and this way at least to announce it. Deplorable. This is part of this scorn that our leaders have towards the youth, towards the future. A youth that there is never more prepared that but that it does not find a work inside our society. We form our young people so that other countries benefit from this preparation that our State financed».

And another collaboration that he emphasized is that of José Miguel Travieso. «We owe to him a few unpublished and high quality works and, especially, our image. Its fronts engrosan this rich patrimony that is hoarding Magazine Atticus. And these fronts are the synthesis of what I have saying, of that one symbiosis creative».

The present. «This year I would like to put fashionable Magazine Atticus». With this phrase, with this desire our publisher initiated this paragraph. Next it mentioned a series of achievements between which they stand out the fact that Magazine Atticus should be credited like mass communication media in most of the museums and cultural foundations of our country as this way also it it is in the main movies distributors. Magazine Atticus has at present an average of 3000 daily visits and it is present in the social networks with its platforms of Facebook and Twitter. In this emulation to put fashionable Magazine Atticus they hope to double the number of visits and followers on having finished the present year.

The future. Luis José Cuadrado referred like worker, like civil and, now like publisher, to the absence of imaginative, reflective politics that ballast the whole cultural panorama. He criticized the mediocrity, the tepidity and the absence of sights of those leaders that they despise to our youth and force them to emigrate.« I do not meet anybody who could not imagine. Be poor, be rich, be ugly, you imagine a better world. It has always been said that the imagination is to be able. And there it is where we all are powerful. It is not a question so much of having resources as of having the capacity, the imagination, to generate these resources». Next it revealed the way that Atticus will continue in the next months. To its publication new signatures will be joining. In the next numbers there appear articles about actuality that have to do with the events that celebrate different anniversaries as it is the case of the IVth of the death of The Greek one, or of the centenary of the Mexican actress Maria Felix. Also it revealed a new section. The illustrators will show its particular vision of how they see Atticus Finch, the inspiring personage of the movie «that almost is our guru». The new section begins with the task of Dani Mayo, which stops aside its girls but pop maintains the same style art. The big publishing innovation of this year constitutes it the fact of publishing the first book under the stamp Atticus «synonymous of quality in the texts, quality in the image and elegant edition». It is a question of a volume that Helen González (ELNO) assembles more than 80 histories of Salvador Robles Miras (he rewards with innumerable awards both in histories and in stories) with illustrations of the vallisoletana. It will see the light before finishing the first trimester of the year. The holiday of the words will be published by the title.

Finishing its intervention, our publisher surprised the assistants showing a copy of The histories of Marten and Blue Fernando de Gustavo Martín. A work that obtained the Award Nadal in 1999. From this year Luisjo preserves this copy in its shelves between the innumerable books that it hoards. Now it has come alive again. It opened it, extracted the offprint where there is gathered the poetry that are mentioned in the book of Martín Garzo and read a paragraph of its prologue:

The mission of the poet - said Isak Dinesen - is to do that others confuse fiction and reality in order to do them for one hour mysteriously happy.

I wrote this book anxious to achieve this difficult conjunction. I hope it has obtained for its readership a blade at least of the engaged happiness!

«That's why I turned into publisher. For offering these works (gathered in the summary) and with them this blade of happiness as good Gustavo was saying now already 15 years ago. After a long applause, the choir of camerawoman AUDINOS (16 more members its director) delighted all the assistants with 7 topics that, of a way or other one, were connecting with the content and with the extract of Magazine Atticus, wishing to the publication long life and that could keep on putting its sand granite in this beautiful cultural project that now its fourth printed number has seen being born.

Spent 21 hours 30 minutes the assistants were parading up to the outskirts of the museum where they could contemplate a brilliant light, radiant, joyful of having joined this new publication. Many assistants continued the chat way of the last appointment of the night of the hand of another big friend Atticus of those that so much there praises Luis José Cuadrado Gutiérrez, publisher of the magazine. It is a question of Willy Raposo at the head of its Hotel Enara that had the last surprise of the night kept to us. A toast for a long life to the cultural project Magazine Atticus. Health, Happy Year and, between all, let's put fashionable Magazine Atticus spreading the culture!
