HIM WEEK-END: CHRONICLE OF NOT CHRONICLE

Trois allumettes, joins to une allumées dans the nuit
The première pour voir ton visage tout entier
The seconde pour voir teas yeux
The dernière pour voir ta boucheet
l'obscurité toute entière pour me rappeler tout it watches
in you serrant dans month bras.

Jacques Prévert

Le Weekend Directed by Roger Michell Starring Lindsay Duncan and Jim Broadbent

Paris never ends. Or as Edith Piaf would say, pour fair pardonner, il offre an arc in ciel. Paris hides under a twinkle that wraps any of the lives that there are quoted. And if this appointment is a love trip, Paris of that time can yield to the time, and the time yield before the happiness. A seemingly idyllic weekend in Paris is what wraps this movie: him week-end.

A movie purely English ambientada in Paris. Directed by Roger Michell (also responsible for movies like “Notting Hill“ o “Morning Glory“) and arisen from the script of Hanif Kureishi (who also collaborated with the same director in “Venus“), already it has some awards in its brief credit; for example, the silver Conch to the Best Actor in the Festival of San Sebastian.

And the fact is that the performance is a delight in this movie. Its protagonists, Nick and Meg (Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan) realize a magnificent staging, without being necessary that there happens anything more that they. And the fact is that, in fact, this is what it spends in the movie: that only it is they who happen, and its marriage. Although he would not know well if the rest of the assembly remains next to you because it never goes so far as to appear really in the scene, or is that they are they those who make eliminate everything what approaches, up to the Paris itself.

What is clear is that the history of this marriage, which tries to meet again with itself thirty years later, in that romantic place where they spent its honeymoon, maintains its lines in a formidable magnetic repelencia. As poles that are detested, but that cannot escape one of other. And this way, as it starts, finishes a movie that shows the art of which a love dies and is reborn at the same time. With the neglect of the one who is in love, but it does like that he does not believe it. Of the one who flees of a lucky love that is still present, in different form, after the experience of the life. This way it is this movie. Love without love. You give birth without Paris. One to want accidentally. And in this frenetic rhythm, not rhythm of the life itself. Under the sky of any Paris.
