Everything was making to think that Efectos secundarios belongs to this group of movies that set to give birth to the pharmacists for its excessive wealth emulation to the detriment of the health of the patients, precisely to those those who tried to be treated. There are several movies that are a good example of it. There are tapes that they speak to us about the pernicious side effects of the medicines or how results silence that of ever never going out to the light had been approved for the human consumption, finally, to prescribe a patient. I remain with The faithful gardener (Fernando Meirelles, 2005) like one of the best. Although many other examples exist in spite of only changing the pharmaceutical industry into some other one like for example the real estate agency and its consequences on having approached the politicians in The plot (Allen Hughes, 2013) that curiously Catherine Zeta-Jones informs.

But in this case we are before a thriller (we would have to begin using its term in Castilian: suspense movie). An intrigue that, in this case, is characterized by the side effects that the medication produces in the young protagonist Emily who does not remember anything from what it happens to him during a moment in which it has a loss of conscience. Is it possible to consider her to be responsible for its act?

During good part of the first minutes of Side effects you are present tensely, expectantly at what happens on the screen. You realize that nothing happens, but that it is going to happen. It is slightly strange. But it maintains you in tension and this is an achievement. Because when you have already done an idea to yourself of where it thinks up the last announced movie of Steven Soderbergh, everything turns and nothing is what was.

The conflict that the director raises can be summed up of very brief form: a sad girl who has lost the desire of living comes to a psychiatrist, good professional, but who has need to gain him an extra money. And it prescribes a medicine that takes the libido from him, other promotes it but it gives him sleep and other … And I am not going to reveal any more of the plot and subplots. I meet a challenge difficult to count Side effects things without revealing anything that throws for ground the innocence of the spectator at the time of seeing this movie. I believe, and in this occasion more than never, that the less its best argument is known.

Soderbergh is the very reliable prolix director. From Sex, lie and videotapes (1989) up to Contagion (2011) passing for Erin Brockovich (2000), the saga Ocean Eleven's or her some of the good examples are good German (2006). It is of these directors that it already has its fans and they come to see blindly its movies. Here, once again it demonstrates the big handling of the camera and a big soundness in what he narrates.

As for the actors. Excellent performance of young man, attractive and enigmatic Rooney Mara. In its short curriculum it has in its credit several performances in different series but the interpretation that it threw to the reputation is that of Lisbeth Salander of the northerly saga of Millenium (in its American version, in 2011) that led him to being nominated in several awards. Crowd exercises on the screen an amazing magnetism. It will be necessary to be attentive to its career. Jude Law is more than correct. It proves to be very reliable. A thing happens to me with this actor. Whenever I see him on screen, and more in this occasion, I do not stop seeing him this small island of hair that he has left on top of the forehead. And I get lost in the foolishness. What are we going to do to him me goes away the mind. On having returned to the ground, I discover to the Zeta-Jones with a small role that not desmerece in nothing to its share-out partners.

The final result is an entertaining movie, with a very original script, which raises some ethical conflicts of the professionals to us earlier the pharmacists; how do we surrender, of ingenuous form, to the recipes of the psychiatrists and that in the end everything turns to unravel as there coexist the love, the power and not alone money in the consultation of the medical professionals but in our everyday life. What at first we believed that it was a denunciation documentary it turns into an attractive thriller. Go to the movies and count its opinion. At the end of this comment they have just published the news about the financial problems by those that there crosses Alta Films, the producer, distributor and exhibidora cinematographic of Enrique González Macho, president of the Academy of Movies. If it disappears, they will eliminate rooms of movies that were getting overturned in the independent movies and in offering original versions. Since they can understand this he supposes a big loss, one more step towards the consumption of movies like a commercial product in search of the easy box office and the llenazo of the first two weeks. A pity and a tremendous loss, which supposes a new attack to the diversity. The above mentioned: go to the movies!
