We keep on offering the best álbumes of 2012.
30 TANITA TIKARAM – CAN'T GO BACK
One of the events of the second half of the year was the return of TANITA TIKARAM with CAN'T GO BACK. A return for everything high accompanied by an international throwing and an European tour that goes to thousand marvels. Because Tanita is very active with the Social Networks and has us much informed across its Facebook page. CAN'T GO BACK, is an excellent disc. Its best work in years and it gives the sensation that if it manages to have a minimal aftereffect and recognition with this work, this time is not going to be seven years eliminated. We, after enjoying very much the disc, are sure that this is not a simple comeback, it is a renaissance. And it has to remain with us forever …
29 TIFT MERRITT – TRAVELING ALONE
TIFT MERRITT is the most brilliant cantautora assigned to the folk and to the country music alternative to that we have continued the track from its beginnings, for the simple pleasure of listening to what it has to tell us. TRAVELING ALONE is its last disc. Another example of musician Indie although it is not what many understand for Indie. Traveling Alone is other of these discs replete with sonorous sceneries that go unnoticed for the Spanish public. A small masterpiece.
28 ALABAMA SHAKES – BOYS & GIRLS
ALABAMA SHAKES is a band of Athens and its style strolls between the Soul, American, Southern Rock and Blues. Although the sign of identity of this band is in the powerful gullet of Brittany Howard, whose voice sounds in some cuts of the disc like that of a black Janis Joplin. Recently they have turned out to be rewarded with a few nominations to the Awards Grammy. And for us probably be the band revelation of the year.
27 INGRID MICHAELSON – HUMAN AGAIN
INGRID MICHAELSON is one of the cantautoras multiintrumentistas youngest and provided with the panorama and HUMAN AGAIN supposed a giant step in its brilliant career, turning into its most mature work and better until now.
One of our favorite songs of the year is on this disc. It is a question of Blood Brothers that comes accompanied from a video that it honors to many personalities of the music. Real Icons much more well-known than proper Ingrid Michaelson. But we are sure that of continuing for this way, some day will get rid of its Girl's patina Indie and will not be late in belonging to the same group of Icons and if they purify us, we would say that even with major quality that many of the prima donnas whom it honors in the video.
26 REGINA SPEKTOR – WHAT WE SAW FROM THE CHEAP SEATS
WHAT WE SAW FROM THE CHEAP REGINA'S SEATS SPEKTOR is a disc that has a small peculiarity that has done that some critics do not understand it and it is loaded without any consideration. He gathers songs that Regina was interpreting in its concerts and they had not been recorded previously on a study disc or even, others that yes had been recorded and needed a review. The case is that like album, he lacks cohesion. Because it is a hodgepodge in which it fits practically quite, from an unbearable song like Oh Marcello, up to a small masterpiece as it is All The Rowboats and if some critics loaded it it was for this absence of cohesion and because they translated the fact of using an already existing material as absence of ideas. We have valued What We Saw … Like an oddness album because only this way it is necessary to understand it.
25 JODIE MARIE – MOUNTAIN I BEGIN
JODIE MARIE has been one of the big discoveries of Pop Británico of last year. Another singing jovencísima provided with a big talent and a voice who reminds us to Carole King or Joan Baez in a style near to that of all these current British singers much influenced by Dusty Springfield, with an impeccable production of big Bernard Butler that we already surprised last year with its excellent work for the least big Nerina Pallot.
24 LUCY ROSE – LIKE I USED TO
LUCY ROSE is a British cantautora of Warwickshire who, in the beginning, only is known by the fans of Bombay Bycicle Club, since álbumes has collaborated with them in its last two. 2012 has supposed for her its throwing like soloist, after more than five years getting tanned in the meetings of open microphones. And we are sorpendido with a small titled marvel LIKE I USED TO. Its influences confesas of Joni Mitchell or Neil Young are recognized as soon as we listen to the first notes of some of its courts.
23 THE LUMINEERS – THE LUMINERS
One of the big surprises of the period calls itself a band of proceeding folk - rock THE LUMINEERS of of Denver that namesake loaded with good topics was making debut in April with a disc. Many people have compared them with Mumford and Sons. They remind enough to us more to The Head and The Heart for its way of doing the things. Also they have in common with them that one treats as a teeny-weeny throwing, of those that are done by more love than money. Specifically in charge of Dualtone Records, a record company Independent from Nashville. In these days it is possible to be said that the things have changed very much since we write the corresponding entry. The disc début of THE LUMINEERS begins to work in Europe and has been rewarded by several important nominations to the Grammy.
22 BRANDI CARLILE – BEAR CREEK
When BRANDI CARLILE popped in in 2005 with its album début, we discover many to one of the American cantautoras with major future. And little we are wrong … The magazine Rolling Stone he emphasized it like one of these artists to whom it was not necessary to lose them of sight. They have spent seven years since then and four study works to more brilliant which. BEAR CREEK is the last one and in him we are the best folk rock of last times. Its voice had never dreamed with tantísima force. We recommend to you to throw a glance in Youtube to all these videos in which it appears singing directly accompanied by the twins Hanseroth. It is precisely in each of these videos where we can see that Carlile is one of the big ones and it is already doing history.
21 OF MONSTERS AND MEN – MY HEAD IS ANIMAL AN
MY HEAD IS ANIMAL AN of OF MONSTERS AND MEN is one of the most refreshing proposals of the period. Although there are a band, many people will think that it is a question of a duo for the fact that almost all the songs of the disc sound with the voices of Nanna and Ragnar practically to the unison. Something that probably is part of this magic along with all this paraphernalia folkie that has bewitched the Americans - it is the Icelandic band that further has come in the American lists - and that also he has bewitched the Spanish public because Little Talks – the single with which everything began - already has exploited in our radiofórmulas. The exoticism is always a value in rise.
