The North of Castile does echo of Magazine Atticus to itself

Atticus, a cultural project «made in» Valladolid

Atticus Finch is the name of the personage of the novel ‘to Kill a nightingale’ of Harper Lee. Luis José Cuadrado was choosing together with a group of friends a book, of which there was an adaptation to the big screen, and they were meeting after having read it to see the movie and to comment on it. Like that was born Atticus, fruit of a series of intentions that were canalized by Square. This project began like a simple love of overturning in Internet articles about art in pdf thanks to the platform that Rubén García Gamarra created.
On the verge of fulfilling three years it keeps on growing like the froth. It has an average of 1.400 daily visits to the web (when he was born 10 persons were getting connected per day) and adds a whole of 600.000 visits.
The magazine Atticus is a product vallisoletano, created with small contributions of writers and professionals of the whole world. In the capital of the Pisuerga one organizes, mock-up and is printed. Luis José Cuadrado, salmantino of birth and vallisoletano of adoption, is the creator and responsibly for same one. After a series of broken promises of friends who never sent its texts to enrich the web with its articles, Square decided to give one more step and began to ask experts for its collaboration blogueros of the art. He admits to have received some bang but, in general, it is very satisfied of the big family, of more than fifty persons, which has been created about Atticus. Not only in Spain, to another side of the puddle, in Latin America, also it are blogueros that share its articles in the web vallisoletana.
After taking ten numbers in its digital format (now they take 16 more 5 monographic ones), the first Atticus edition arose, in June, 2011, ONE, in role with the propulsion and the support of Juan Diego Caballero Oliver, teacher and professor of Geography and History, who died shortly before it was published. A risky bet that was provided with a presentation for everything high in the Museum of the Courtyard Herreriano of Valladolid. To this first number it continued a second (TWO). THREE It intends for its exit to the market next September but “the sponsors' absence is delaying its publication”, warns Luis José Cuadrado. ONE had a throw of 750 while for the second number the sales forecasts increased up to coming to the 1.000. The economic support with which this project is provided is quite limited. A series of friends of Square, with important companies to its charge, trusts in its good criterion and contributes its small help in exchange for publicity in the web and in the magazines.
Last year promised to be and sold in the transcantábrico train, amen of in two points vallisoletanos (a kiosk opposite to El Corte Ingles and the Bookstore Hopscotch). Across the web page also there happens the option to acquire the magazine. Months, after having be on sale, it is hung complete on Internet. Square emphasizes the absence of habit of paying for the digital contents. “We have realized more than 3.000 pages in less than three years and have had 600.000 users. If 10 % had paid an euro for the contents we would have gained 60.000 euros. Until now everything comes down to the eaten for the served”.
The art vallisoletano is the protagonist (and the front photo) of the first two numbers of Atticus and, most likely, also it it will be THREE, although this is still secret. In spite of having reportages of the whole world, he always tries to underline the importance of Valladolid, granting to these articles the best positions of the magazine. José Miguel Travieso is the manager of designing the fronts, of putting him facing Atticus.
Also there is time and space for the pleasant surprises: "Another day they asked me for the number of account to deposit 10 euros of the magazine to me, but they asked me not to order it to him because one had already unloaded it of the web” he was reporting Squared with a smile.
To the question of up to where can it come alone Atticus the silence and the staggering follows him. Square is sure of a thing: "it is a project that has quality great, but the difficulty of being announced and the crisis slow down the way”.
