Millionaire Philippe, tetrapléjico, lives in a luxurious Parisian quarter and assistant looks. Origin Driss comes to the work interview senegalés more worried about sealing the primer and power to keep on receiving the unemployment benefit, which of reaching the offered position. Driss has no preparation but Philippe sees something in him that "captivates" him and is possible that she is the person who looks so that it does not treat him with commiseration.
Untouchable the movie of the directors Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache presents a history full of contrasts to us. One looks where it looks, it has its opposite to every thing or topic or point of view: poor / rich, wooden bowl / exquisite, black / white, atleta/tetrapléjico. Two classes, two cultures. The biggest contrast happens between two protagonists, but it is not the only one.
Philippe (François Cluzet) had everything. Also it had the pain of seeing as its wife was boiling away. This led it to looking for sports risk practices to release the whole possible adrenaline and to escape of the foreign suffering. In the end he turns out to be weakened in a wheelchair. It is rich, very rich, refined, intelligent, exquisite in its tastes, lover of opera, of music, of car luxurious (Maserati Quattroponte), and of the eggs Fabergé (synonymous of the maximum refinement, only 57 copies were created and one of them can reach 18 million dollars on the market). The work interview the ride to end in a luxurious lounge of its palace in the center of Paris.
Opposite to him, Driss (Omar Sy) a negrazo, of origin senegalés, full of fearlessness, shameless, happy, slightly uneducated, loutish, humorous that pushes all kinds of conventionality back. Its biggest virtue is that it sees Philippe as to a person, as to a more than they surround its life.
The movie works almost to the perfection. It is very easy to do a movie that triumphs. One of the recipes (I am going to reveal one of the biggest secrets of the movie industry) is the achievement of a good script under the classic argument of the type: "Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy and girl decide to be / live together. Problems and boy arise and girl they separate. They are longed and they will try to be together again». This way of simple.
This magic script formula is necessary to adapt it so that the name of the boy is Driss, so that the girl is the Philippe personage and so that the relation between them is not that of a physical love, but is that of a bowshot between two persons who could go so far as to complement in such a way that it becomes almost inseparable.
Untouchable it starts with a sequence at big speed that quickly catches us for its ending. If we add to this a good sound-track (of those that are appreciated but they do not bother) with a good song in the average point of the movie (sublime Boogie wonderland of Earth Wind and Fire) the success it is almost assured to 90 %. It is quite suitable that one of the personages endures or some guy suffers circumstance that touches us the fibre of direct form. And it is already, eh voilà that a Frenchman would say. Like that it is as we have a success movie, almost of cult. But this must not be easy. And if not, he is enough to throw a glance to our publicity board of last year to see what movie rose with the box office (one of the saga Stream). It will be necessary to ask the French how they do it to achieve that Untouchable it overcomes 30 million spectators. And it gives me that this is not a thing of the coincidence. Recent successes endorse the success of the French movies with movies as The Artist, The dinner of the idiots, Welcome to the north or, even, Small minor lies (at that proper François Cluzet is employed).
The tape has black, irreverent, but very healthy humor great. Today, where politically correct thing is present in each of its acts, to do a movie of this type is bold, risky. To mix black, immigrant, tetrapléjico and to go out airy, ugh, has merit great. The directors have not resorted to the mawkishness, to the easy tear, to narrate the fortune that there supposes having next to us a person who changes to you completely and makes a better life possible. There the success takes root of Untouchable: in being a movie that makes way to the heart without nothing stopping it. There is an honest exposition in the treatment of the topics. They treat them with valor, without devices, without mufflers. They laugh at the opera (magnificent scene: to bear four hours of function and above in German), they laugh at how Driss is capable of spilling warm tea on the Philippe legs (and, with it, the whole room) or even do a pleasantry on the tetrapléjicos:
— Where can you find a tetrapléjico?
— I do not know it.
— There, where you left it.
The fruit that throws this formula based on an almost perfect, very worn out script with ingenious and shooting phrases, is an entertaining, happy, encouraging movie, full of vitality and of certain optimism. I am sure that this movie in a few years will gain weight and will be diseccionada like a model of movie that brings together to the perfection (between other things) the drama and the comedy. It is an optimistic movie, which infects us, vitalist and that transmits happiness and hope to us. On the other hand, it does not give so much game for a conference like for example The dinner of the idiots or her already also mentioned Small minor lies (I recognize certain weakness as this tape) for the simple reason of which it is easier to identify us with the protagonists of these two movies than with the duo Philippe/Dris.
Some devastating fact: more than thirty million spectators; Omar Sy took César getting carried away it to the very same Jean Dujardin; the Untouchable movie has been named like better cultural event of the year 2011 in France.
Finally, the history is based on a real fact. There is gathered in a book namesake that went out to the market now eleven years ago, published by Anagram. Philippe Pozzo di Biorgo a 63-year-old businessman is the author. It remained tetrapléjico in 1993 and he narrates its relation with Abdel Yasmin Sellou, its minder senegalés proceeding from a Parisian suburb. There say those who have read the book that is harder than the movie. Curiously the relation with its minder does not have so much importance in the book, and scarcely it occupies a chapter. We already have another book / film for the discussion. Go to the movies. In this occasion I invite them so that they discover porqué two protagonists are untouchable.
I leave a tráiler to you
And also the linkage to two movies of those that I mention and on that, in due time, I commented:
