Exhibition The Hermitage in Prado Museum

«The Hermitage in Prado Museum», it shows across hundred twenty works the big variety and wealth of the collections of the Russian museum - from the Vth century B.C. until the XXth century, spending for outstanding pieces of archaeology, decorative arts and the magnificent funds of painting, sculpture and drawing - that do of him one of the first centers of art of the world. The exhibition organized by the Prado Museum, Spanish Cultural action (AC/E) and proper State Hermitage Museum, with the patronage of the Foundation BBVA, constitutes the only and extraordinary occasion on having talked each other of the first time that shows itself out of the Hermitage such an important and numerous selection of works of its exceptional collections.

 

Composed by almost ninety works of the famous collections of painting, drawing and sculpture of the Russian museum, along with a similar quantity of pieces corresponding to its extensive and incomparable archaeological collections and of decorative arts, in addition to suits of epoch and furniture.

Between the exposed works they emphasize examples as notable as Tiziano's San Sebastian, the Tañedor of Lute of Caravaggio, the San Sebastian of Bank, and the Lunch of Velázquez. Also they will have capacity two works of the important collection of Rembrandt who hoards the Hermitage, Portrait of a student and Fall of Haman. Of its drawings collection, there come works of Durero, Rubens, Watteau and Unpotter's clay and, between the sculptures, they can stand out the sketch in Bernini terracotta for the Delight of Santa Teresa, and one of the masterpieces in marble of Antonio Canova, Magdalen
penitent
. The exhibition is provided also with notable examples of the famous collections of impressionistic and post-impressionistic painting of the Russian museum, in which there will be represented Monet, Cezanne, Renoir, Gauguin and Matisse, the last one with two works, Game of balls and Conversation. Of Picasso three linens are included, between them seated Woman and Tippler of
absinthe
and they will complete the selection two Russian works of the abstract avant-garde, the Composition VI of Kandinsky
and the mysterious black Square of Malevich.

Also, the exhibition also allows to the public to get in the archaeological collections of the Hermitage and enjoy exceptionally singular pieces like Comb scene of battle, golden work escita of the IVth century B.C. and the works of Siberian jewelry shop that come from the collections of Peter the Great. As for the objects of decorative arts, there is included the sword decorated with silver, rubies and diamonds, donated to the czar in the XVIIIth century by the Indian ambassador, and the most beautiful flowers Glass in rock crystal, gold and diamonds of the jeweler of the imperial family, Carl Fabergé (1846-1920).
