Rusiñol in the House Lys of Salamanca

Rusiñol in the House Lys of Salamanca

In the previous entry, a little more under these lines, we were commenting on other options to the Holy Week in Valladolid. Those who are in this city must not let through the possibility of visiting Salamanca like another option more, although the Salamancan capital well is worth while dedicating his something more than a simple day.

Right now and until June 5, 2011 the House Lys of Salamanca receives a small but very interesting exhibition that it has to the modernism like main protagonist.

The House Ferrat de Sitges was the house study of Santiago Rusiñol (1861 - 1931) writer and painter much influenced by the impressionists. Cau Ferrat was one of the shop windows and more important cultural centers of the Catalan Modernism.

Cau Ferrat the summer residence of Santiago Rusiñol and temple of its ideology of Entire Art receives an important collection of painting of Rusiñol and of the artists who, like him, were praising a modern art: Houses, Utrillo, Clarasó, More i Fondevila, Regoyos, Zuloaga, Picasso, Pitchot or Anglada Camarasa. It presents, also, the collection of iron of Rusiñol that named the museum, that of ceramics, that of glass, that of furniture and sizes and singular objects that the author assembled along the whole life. At present she is closed for you work of restoration. It is for that reason for the one that we can contemplate now a good part of these works in Salamanca.

The sample is generous as for the number of paintings of Rusiñol, but also of its contemporaries. But also the brilliant painter was a big collector. We can contemplate other works of its contemporaries like Anglada Camarasa, Picasso or Regoyos. Also there are exhibited two Greek ones that he acquired in Paris in 1894 and that served to inaugurate the museum.

Bust reliquary

Personally I recommend to them that to be fixed in several pieces. These do not belong to the painting. There are three small masterpieces that are not easy to see round there. The first one of them is a small medieval ark decorated with badges of carved ivory. Other one of them is a bust reliquary with the image of a young woman of a big beauty and to which it is necessary to pay attention to discover the lid. And finally I emphasize a curious cross (XVth century) with the attributes of Christ's Passion that is fitted into a Romanesque capital (XII - XIIIth century). The conception of this work seems to me of a big modernity, it is like a work Naif but in wrought sculpture, which achievement was more than 500 years ago.
