Valladolid, Holy Week: other proposals to the processions.

The Holy Week has in Valladolid one of the emblematic cities to know this religious declaration.

Those that want to see the processions can consult the program in the following direction of the Meeting of Brotherhoods of Valladolid:

Pero Valladolid has a lot to do. In the exhibition halls of the Municipal Foundation of Culture it is possible to see the following samples, in its habitual schedule from 12 to 14 hs. and from 18,30 to 21,30 hs, although, the schedule will extend the Palm Sunday and Friday, Saturday and holy Sunday, of 10:00 to 14:00 and of 18:00 to 21:30.

  • The Municipal Room of Exhibitions of the Museum of Passion of Valladolid, receives more than one hundred of works, between original drawings, garbados and documents of Rafael Alberti, an exhibition in which works prove to be for the first time not an acquaintance of the big poet and painter. The exhibition goes for title “The SECRET ALBERTI. I TALK OF VENUS AND PRÍAPO” and it will be presented by its widow Maria Asunción Mateo. In words of its widow, Maria Asunción Mateo, “An attractive eroticism sustains this series of drawings of the most unknown, intimate and explicit Rafael Alberti who has never appeared to the public. The mobile that incites it to the creation is its exceeded vitalism, the insatiable life thirst across its most primitive and sublime impulse: the desire. Desire that, according to him, beats “further away, beyond the ages” almost absence of color moves us to the first drawings of the adolescent Alberti, where the nakedness of the line undresses even more to offer us the purity of the essential thing. Its freshness, its lyric sensuality, manages to disturb us and prove to be like that, as in its poems, the supported force, the rise that beats and encourages it in these singular drawings: "And in my burning blood, the immortal longed youth.”
  • The Municipal Room of Exhibitions of San Benito of Valladolid, presents the exhibition “I HAVE SO MUCH FEELING … 50 years of Portuguese photo”, formed by nearly one hundred of chosen works of the best Portuguese photo of last 50 years. Works of Helena Almeida, Castello-Lopes, Jorge Guerra, Nuno Maya, Jorge Molder or Seine it gives Miscellany, between others, presents before itself in this sample realized especially for the Room and never presented. The works belong to the funds of the Photo Colectania or of the Foundation PLMJ of Lisbon and also to other Portuguese collectors. This sample wants to recognize the quality, creativity and fearlessness of the contemporary Portuguese photo. Its heredity is spreading thanks to the collections work like that of the Foundation Photo Colectania or of the Foundation PLMJ of Lisbon.
For this selection, there have been born in mind the peculiarities, complementarities and references of the photographers who appear in the sample: some of them continue rather documentary trajectories and others maintain a more personal vision; on the other hand, in the selection there appear photographers who live together in the same epoch, and others who share ideas across the time. In some cases an extensive selection of several works meets, what allows to realize a trip for its work; in other cases, it has been decided in favor of a few singular and emblematic images of the artist. Like everything, the sample offers a set coherent and representative of the Portuguese contemporary photo that, as in the poem of Pessoa that gives title to the exhibition, he looks for the balance between the feeling and the thought of the reason.
  • The Exhibition hall of the House Retown presents the sample “CHAPTER OF BROTHERHOODS”, comisariada for Joaquín Díaz. Across diverse documents and objects there is proposed a trip visual and little known on the history of the Brotherhoods, a big stranger. The Middle Age is the epoch in which unions, brotherhoods and fraternity arise and develop like a model framework for the defense and survival of groups of religious and civil nature. Also it is the period in which the human being contemplates the world as a small cosmos where culture and life are synonymous. To read and to hear are equivalent terms; existence and learning simultaneous formulae. The transition of this genre of society towards the Renaissance will take with it important mutations. The invention of the printing, the promulgation of regulatory laws of the life together, the every time major preponderance of the State as supreme organ that will regulate the collective performance and the individual will border, are seemingly innovative and transcendental circumstances. Nevertheless the essential axis that crosses and arranges everything, is still unchangeable; this way, clothing, feeding, architecture, work and beliefs form a chain which strong links break only exceptionally and remain up to good brought in the century xix, this anxious century of radical changes which germ will be growing little by little from the decomposition of the Ancient Diet. The brotherhoods will survive all these changes or will adapt themselves to them thanks to its internal norms and the definition of its ends, usually of Christian origin and of charitable - social orientation.
  • In the Municipal Room of Exhibitions of the Theater Caldron we can see the exhibition Light Religious images in Valladolid, an exhibition eminently technical, since beyond the representations of Christ, the Virgin or the saints, the sculptures have behind a few processes of making that often we do not know. We know that the sculptural sets that procesionaban at the beginning of the XVIIth century, and they did that our city was already recognized by its Holy Week, they were done of pasteboard and linen. Since the Portuguese traveler documents I Took Pinheiro da Veiga, they were very light and they were representing the main scenes of the Passion of the Redeemer: The Sacred Dinner, the Prayer of the Orchard, Santa Verónica, the Longinos lance thrust … At present we preserve only one of them, the Triumphal Entry of Jesus in Jerusalem, lightly, but not fact of vain. In 1604 Francisco Rincón carved the one that we consider to be the first big processional step in wood, and the results pleased so much that there were replaced gradually the light steps along those that today we enjoy, going over to its zenit with the projected ones to the big maker of religious images Gregorio Fernández. One has tried to do a general approach to the variants related to the Light Religious images, a concept with which we are not acquainted either, but that describes very well a few works that mistakenly we tend to include under the generic denomination of vain.
  • And the Municipal Room of Exhibitions of the church of the Frenches presents next Friday, the 1st of April, for the first time in the world, the exhibition “DANIEL MORDZINSKI. The return to the world in 80 writers' portraits” the only exhibition produced by the Municipal Foundation of Culture of the Town hall, in which for the first time they prove to be together writers of five continents painted the portrait by the author. This one a world premiere turns this way into a cultural event.
Correspondent of war, photojournalist taken root in France, author of a dozen of books of trip, tireless photographer and hardened reader, for 30 years Daniel Mordzinski has developed and financed a titanic task: that of photographing all the writers and thinkers that it could. Only in 2010 Mordzinski has exhibited in the Fair of the Book of Frankfurt, in the Hay Festival of Zacatecas, in the Fair of the Book of Santo Domingo, or in the Institute Cervantes of Tel Aviv, in Turin, Saint John of Puerto Rico and Cartagena of the Indies.
Mordzinski thinks that “The search of the paradise is so old as the proper existence of the man. But in the XXIst century the answer is clear: the best place of the world is a book. In this one there are contained the map of the treasure, the keys of the chest, the instructions to come and the most finished compendium of sleep and hopes. More than thirty years since I photograph writers all over the world and sometimes I imagine that I draw a cartography of the writing, a big atlas of the words. It is the first time that presented my “Return to the world in 80 writers' portraits”. And that for the es an honor that this first time is in Valladolid.
The entry to all the rooms is free and free.

Museum Courtyard Herreriano. The visitors who approach the Museum will be able to enjoy the exhibition “Group Simancas: scenery – color – expression” organized by the Foundation Villalar-Castilla and León and the Museum Courtyard Herreriano. This exhibition mounted in the rooms 6 and 7 of the Museum, sample works of Félix Cuadrado Lomas, Jorge Vidal, Domingo Criado, Gabino Gaona, Fernando Santiago and Francisco Sabadell. Also, the sample is contextualizada for an important documentary set that emphasizes the relation established between the painters and a group of poets, who were sharing similar worries, between that there stand out Justo Alejo, Ramón Torío or more the biggest Francisco Pino, that they contacted across the bookstore Relief. Also Jacobo exhibits an interesting selection of cartels of the gallery realized by the proper artists and a documentary with interviews and with the attractive captures in Super 8 realized ones by Fernando Santiago.

Also, the visitors will be able to contemplate an attractive selection of works of the Permanent Collection of the Museum (The Collection Contemporary art) in the rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9, in addition to the space of the cloister of the second plant and the Chapel. In the above mentioned selection there have been established trips that attend so much on thematic criteria, as stylistic of the funds of the Collection and explore new readings inside the complex and dense internal speech of this one. These trips are articulated therefore concerning different and wide concepts as they are: the New Art, to Draw in the space, abstraction, matter, imagining and new realities.

The Chapel of the Counts of Fuensaldaña receives the work of Adolfo Scholsser, The sky on the ground, 1994. This installation recaptures the idea of cut away forest. It is not a question of thin branches and roots, but of trunks that describe nine tidy concentric circles of ascending height towards the center filled with trunks and higher dry branches. The esoteric meaning of the number nine conjugates with the image of the center of the ground. Sense ascensional that it articulates the double element sky - ground.

Owing to the Holy Week, the Museum Courtyard wide Herreriano its schedule of 11:00 to 20:00 on Thursday and Holy Friday. The Saturday schedule, on April 23, is of 11:00 to 20:00 and on Sunday, April 24, of 11:00 to 15:00.
