You will meet the man of your sleep
The life the same ride to the big screen
Last weekend released the last tape of the prolific director of New York Woody Allen. In this occasion it repeats with the stage: the streets londineses.
You will meet the man of your sleep that the life is the same ride to the big screen. Of a way or other one almost everybody that sees the movie can feel identified with some of eight personages of the new tape of the director of New York Woody Allen.
Of what does the movie go? Or what is the same,
Alfie (Anthony Hopkins) man madurito, retired, that makes the living with its revenues and the fruit of them in bag, suffers the crisis of not wanting to age. Young man wants to be supported although it is by means of checkbook (gymnasium and company girls) and of viagras. A good day wakes up and decides to separate of the woman with whom the whole life has been married. Hellene (Gemma Jones). Hellene is a woman who has become dependent and insecure. To overcome the gulp it comes to the divination and to the whisky (“although I do not like drinking”). Fruit of this marriage is its daughter Sally (Naomi Watts). Sally walks little desnortada. Professionally it does not find its hollow and a son wants. He has not just been happy in its marriage with Roy (Josh Brolin). Roy is a writer of a novel. It triumphed and now it is unable to find the muse that it inspires to continue its career. While this ride emboba looking for the window until it discovers an enigmatic and attractive woman of red that touches in the opposite apartment, Day (Freida Pinto). Day is a young woman of an exotic beauty. Fiancée, him the doubts arise at the moment when he accepts Roy's flirting. While the life happens, every day, the relations advance. A good day Alfie will present its daughter Sally and Roy its new fiancée: Charmaine (Lucy Punch). Charmaine, insultantemente young and beautiful, turns out to be a putón, in addition to blonde. Frivolous and superficial only its closet and/or jeweler wants to satisfy. Alfie a good day will realize that he lives in the fantasy and decides to do something on this matter. On the other hand Roy decides to go forward with its flirting with Day and leaves Sally who in turn realizes that it is in love of its chief Greg (Antonio Banderas), a reputable gallery owner. Greg is married and belongs to these typical men of whom a few times tell that they are fine and others, since badly. In another arm of the broken marriage, Hellene makes of its way of life the divination and the spiritualism up to the point that the stranger who soon was coming to its life will be a bookseller of esoterism, Jonathan (Roger Ashton-Griffiths). And everyone looks for its job in the life chasing its illusion.
The truth is that I went out of the movies after having seen this movie satisfied but also with different sensations. One of them was that of that this movie I have already seen it. The same London ambience different actors but quite with the same retaste. Other one of them is that the movie could have lasted half an hour more or one, because Woody Allen does not count a history but a frames of mind succession. Namely you help on the screen like a spectator sat opposite to the life, where the room of the movies is a patio and before you this daily fragment happens. And, finally, other one of the sensations, more personnel, was that of that was giving me little game to do a brief critique. It still had the images in my head of Origin. It was as if these beautiful images and its intricate plot were not leaving hollow in my mind. A necessary hollow so that You will Know the movie … will settle and I was allowing to center on its analysis. But I put myself to it because I said to myself, it is a movie of Woody Allen and good it deserves a critique. And the first thing that I did there was the scheme that enclosed you. And then I realized that to part of there was the central personage, Hellene it works like a magnet. She is the wife, she is the mother, she is the daughter-in-law and she is the parishioner of the clairvoyant. Woody Allen on the screen, in this movie, is Hellene, its way of moving, of speaking, of gesticulating, is its alter ego. It is modosita, biting, silly but shrewd (the scene of the loan of the money is, simply, brilliant). Around him the personages come together with its different conflicts. Of general form they are very quite built taking like a looked stereotype as basic: beautiful, handsome man, soda, male chauvinist, etc. Very well achieved in the feminine part with the proper Hellene one, Sally (very moderate and believable) Charmaine (it embroiders it) and Day (one eats the screen in every appearance) and less lucky in the masculine roles where there is saved Roy (brilliant performance). Greg the Flags role is the least successful personage since we do not know which it is its ambition, which is the illusion of its life. Perhaps this is a faithful reflex of the society where there are men (and women, skylight) that do not know if they go or come; and what is but, to what they aspire in the life.
Many will be those who see in this movie the same existential pessimism and cynicism, the same obsessions, the same sex, the same couples, the same stage (this London time) and all this relied on with the same narrative agility, vis comical and intelligent irony that it characterizes to the movies of the musician, writer and the director.
And as always very good dialogues fruit of a good script. There are not missing insubstantial pleasantries that alternate with tremendous phrases (to highlight that Charmaine says to Alfie with regard to a son – I do not want to reveal anything-) his all this splashed with the thin irony that characterizes the director of New York.
Finally it is an essential movie for the followers of Woody Allen. It is a movie more than advisable, for the rest of fans of the seventh art, with good humor doses, sometimes somewhat black, another acid and where the daily drama, the apathy that the passage of time produces in the love, sublies in every plot. It is a fragment of the life projected in our room of habitual movies. Like Alfie, in the movie, Woody Allen continues in form and teaches muscle.
